Ceca Magán hires Albert Castellanos in Barcelona

Ceca Magán Abogados has brought on Albert Castellanos as counsel in its digital law and data protection department, joining the firm’s Barcelona office.

Esteban Ceca, managing partner of Ceca Magán Abogados, noted that advisory services in data protection, artificial intelligence, and technological compliance have become a strategic necessity for companies, and that profiles such as Castellanos’s allow the firm to continue anticipating those challenges.

Miguel Lobón, managing partner of the Barcelona office, described the hire as fully aligned with the firm’s vision for growth in Barcelona, emphasising the importance of combining legal expertise, technological knowledge, and a practical approach to client needs. He added that digital law, artificial intelligence, and data protection are no longer complementary areas but strategic ones for any company.

For his part, Albert Castellanos stated that his move to Ceca Magán represents an opportunity to continue developing a specialised practice in digital law and data protection within a growing, client-oriented firm, noting that the regulatory environment in technology is becoming increasingly demanding.

The profile

Albert Castellanos holds a doctorate in Law from the Universitat Autònoma de Barcelona (UAB) and received the Extraordinary Doctorate Award in 2023. He brings over ten years of experience in legal and technology consulting, having built his career at international firms. His sector focus spans healthcare and pharmaceuticals, energy, insurance, and automotive industries. In addition to his professional practice, he serves as a lecturer in digital law at the UAB and as a collaborating professor at several other universities.

His appointment is expected to strengthen the firm’s offering across cybersecurity incident management and response planning, data protection and privacy compliance in complex environments, artificial intelligence project development and data governance, and technology regulatory compliance in highly regulated sectors.
