Clyde & Co promotes Cristina Pérez in Madrid
Clyde & Co has promoted Cristina Pérez Ruiz to legal director at its Madrid office, following eight years at the firm. The appointment recognises an internal career path that began in 2018, when Pérez Ruiz joined as a trainee lawyer after completing a Master’s in Maritime Business and Law at the Instituto Marítimo Español and Universidad Pontificia Comillas.
Since joining, Pérez Ruiz has been part of the Transport team in Madrid, led by partner Enrique Navarro, where she has handled complex matters involving aviation, maritime and energy claims, as well as projects related to trading, insolvency and decarbonisation. Her work has consistently involved cross-border coordination with teams across multiple jurisdictions. Pérez Ruiz has also developed a dedicated advisory practice serving insurance companies, intermediaries and market operators on regulatory matters. Her expertise spans insurance distribution, regulatory compliance, cross-border models, insurtechs and managing general agents (MGAs), as well as the assessment of emerging regulatory frameworks affecting the insurance sector. Beyond client work, she has contributed to internal training and mentoring initiatives, supporting the development of junior lawyers and specialist teams. She is also a member of WISTA, the international association promoting the visibility and leadership of women in the maritime, trading and transport sectors, and is currently enrolled in the Programa Superior The Next Generation of Women in Insurance at INESE.
Clyde & Co’s Madrid office comprises 65 lawyers organised into specialist teams covering areas including aviation, transport and maritime, AI and cyber risks, personal injury, financial lines, environmental and catastrophe, directors and officers liability, healthcare liability, corporate and regulatory, industrial and product liability, and tourism and leisure.
