Cuatrecasas advises Ignis on the sale of Ignis Luz
Cuatrecasas has advised Ignis on the sale of 100% of Ignis Luz, its energy supply division for SMEs, to Engie. From a strategic standpoint, the transaction will enable the Ignis Group to strengthen its positioning as a vertically integrated energy company, concentrating its supply activity and energy solutions on large consumers and new sources of energy demand, such as data centers.
The transaction is subject to the relevant regulatory approvals and is expected to be completed in mid-2026.Ignis Luz, headquartered in Madrid, is an energy retailer for SMEs in the Spanish market, with a portfolio of more than 50,000 customers nationwide and a particularly strong focus on companies and businesses.
The Cuatrecasas team advising on the transaction was made up of lawyers José Luis Rodríguez, Pedro López-Dóriga and Alejandro Aramburu, from corporate M&A, and Alejandro Bonitch and Alfonso Gomá, from public law. The Ignis team included Santiago Bordiú, Joaquín Rey, Susana de Prado, María Clavell and Pablo Villodres.
