Cases Lacambra hires Fernando Gutiérrez as partner

Cases Lacambra has appointed Fernando Gutiérrez Rizaldos as a new partner in its Financial Services practice to lead the firm’s regulatory and funds practice in Spain. Gutiérrez joins from Bird & Bird and previously worked at Dentons.

Strategic expansion

With Gutiérrez’s arrival, Cases Lacambra now has four partners in its Financial Services practice, forming a cross-functional team that spans from transactional work to financial regulation. The firm positions this as creating a unique industry-focused legal operator in the market.

The appointment strengthens the firm’s presence in advising financial institutions, investors, and corporations in an environment marked by increasingly sophisticated transactions, growing regulatory demands, and sector transformation at both national and international levels.

“Fernando’s appointment is part of our strategy to consolidate our position as advisors to financial market players. His experience and profile allow us to continue advancing our positioning and our ability to offer highly specialized advice on complex transactions and regulatory matters”, said Miguel Cases, president of the firm.

Experience and expertise

Gutiérrez brings over twenty years of experience with highly specialized practice in financial regulation and debt matters. He has extensive experience advising credit institutions, investment services firms, insurance companies, asset managers, payment institutions, electronic money institutions, and crypto-asset service providers on complex matters including structural modifications, authorizations, fund establishment (UCITS, AIFM, and securitization), and international expansion through European passports.

His regulatory expertise is complemented by advisory work on complex financing transactions. Throughout his career, he has advised both lenders and borrowers on real estate, project, corporate, asset, and LBO transactions, as well as refinancings and debt issuances, including guarantee structures in international contexts.

Beyond his professional practice, Gutiérrez has served as board secretary for numerous companies, including listed companies and supervised entities, and has been a director of public and private companies. He combines legal practice with teaching, having been a professor of Commercial Law at Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE) and Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, in addition to collaborating with various academic institutions.
