PLMJ advises Cargo.one on Cargofive acquisition
PLMJ advised the German company cargo.one on the acquisition of the Portuguese ocean freight quotation platform Cargofive.
Through AI-based technology, cargo.one provides air, sea and road freight rate data via direct integrations with 75 airlines, the 10 largest shipping lines and dozens of GSAs (General Sales Agencies). For carriers, it offers multiple digital distribution channels for online bookings and rate distribution to 30,000 freight forwarder users in 172 countries, together with real-time analytics and AI agents for sales and customer support.
Portuguese start-up Cargofive, in turn, developed technology that integrates AI to digitalise the complexities of maritime transport. This transaction enables the unification of air and sea freight data into a single, AI-native operational system.
The PLMJ team advised cargo.one on the structuring, negotiation and completion of the acquisition of Cargofive. The matter was co-led by Alexander Ehlert (partner) and Ana Nunes Teixeira (senior associate), both pictured, with the participation of Mariana Teles and Luiza Toniolo, all from the corporate M&A practice.
