Cuatrecasas advises Iberdrola on gas plant sale to Edison Next

Cuatrecasas has acted as legal advisor to Iberdrola in the sale of its gas plants for slurry treatment to Edison Next, as part of the group’s asset rotation strategy.

The deal

The firm advised Iberdrola Cogeneración, an entity of the Iberdrola group, on the disposal of its portfolio of gas assets for slurry treatment in Spain. The transaction comprises five operational natural gas slurry treatment plants in Spain with a combined capacity of 52 MW, as well as four biomethane projects under development with an annual capacity of 340 GWh.

According to the information released, the deal aligns with Iberdrola’s strategy to rotate assets and enter into partnerships that enable it to focus on businesses with higher growth potential, particularly electricity networks and renewable generation.
