CNMC approval clears the way for Wamos sale to Avianca
As reported last May here, the shareholders of Grupo Wamos, including private equity fund DVC Partners, reached an agreement to sell the Spanish airline Wamos Air to Avianca, the Colombian airline owned by Grupo Abra.
After receiving the green light from Spain’s National Commission for Markets and Competition (CNMC) in August, the sale of the airline has been completed. The transaction, initially agreed upon in May, marks a significant step in expanding Avianca’s operations between Latin America and Europe. The financial terms of the transaction remain confidential.

The legal advice for the sellers was provided by Squire Patton Boggs, led by Teresa Zueco, managing partner of the Madrid office, with assistance from senior associate Luis Gutiérrez and associate Jorge Boguñá, both from the Corporate and M&A team.
