Antonio Herrera, the former managing partner, will now lead the Corporate Department at Uría Menéndez

Daniel Ripley and Raimon Tagliavini have taken on the role of co-managing partners at the Uría Menéndez office in Barcelona, succeeding Antonio Herrera, who has led the office for the past eleven years. Herrera will now oversee the Corporate Department at Uría Menéndez.

Daniel Ripley, a State Attorney on leave and a partner since 2005, has focused his practice on advising businesses and public administrations, as well as on corporate law, securities markets, and M&A transactions. He is also an Associate Professor of Civil Law at Pompeu Fabra University in Barcelona. Raimon Tagliavini, on the other hand, specialises in civil and commercial litigation and has extensive experience in advising on insolvency proceedings. He teaches at ESADE Law School and Pompeu Fabra University.

Uría Menéndez’s Barcelona office, which has been operational for over 35 years, employs approximately 100 lawyers covering all areas of business law.

As part of the reorganisation of the Barcelona office, Eduardo Bagaría has been appointed as the partner in charge of Corporate Law; Cristian Gual will oversee Procedural Law and Criminal Law; and José Alberto Navarro will handle Public Law and Environmental Law.

Antonio Herrera to Lead the Corporate Department

Antonio Herrera has assumed the role of head of the Corporate Department at Uría Menéndez, succeeding Carlos de Cárdenas, who will continue as a Corporate partner after eleven years in the role.

Herrera joined the firm in 1998 and became a partner in 2007. He managed the New York office from 2007 to 2012 and has been the managing partner of the Barcelona office since then. His practice includes advising on corporate governance and company law, mergers and acquisitions, structuring, negotiating, and implementing joint ventures, structured financing transactions, and scale-ups.

The Corporate Department at Uría Menéndez, previously led by Carlos de Cárdenas, comprises over 300 lawyers spread across the firm’s Iberian and international offices, representing just under half of the firm’s total revenue.
