ELZABURU Releases 12th Annual IP Jurisprudence Yearbook

ELZABURU, a firm specializing in intangible asset management, has released the 12th edition of its annual European jurisprudence yearbook. This edition features 13 significant cases adjudicated by the Court of Justice of the European Union (CJEU) and Spanish courts, categorized under Facts, Rulings, and Commentary.

The yearbook covers cases on trademarks (4), copyrights (3), patents (2), designs (2), piracy (1), and plant variety rights (1), analyzed by ELZABURU’s professionals. Over the past 12 years, the yearbook has reviewed 337 cases from the CJEU, EU Trademark Court, Spanish Supreme Court, provincial courts, other European and Spanish courts, and the European Patent Office.

This year’s edition includes notable interpretations of European law by the CJEU and contributions from Spanish civil jurisdiction courts, addressing appeals against decisions by the Spanish Patent and Trademark Office (OEPM) for the first time.

Nine ELZABURU professionals—Enrique Armijo, María Cadarso, Inés de Casas, Juan José Caselles, Mabel Klimt, Carlos Morán, Alessandro Pelliccioni, Pedro Saturio, and Ana Sanz—contributed to this year’s commentary. The Editorial Committee comprised Ana Donate, Margarita García, Carlos Morán, Elisa Prieto, José Ignacio San Martín, and Bosco de la Vega.

The law firm was the first Spanish firm to obtain community customs protection and currently manages over 55,000 trademarks for more than 3,300 active clients, including 20,000 trademarks abroad and 1,600 ongoing or completed litigations.
