Uría Menéndez has hired Miguel Iribarren, Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Oviedo, as a consultant.
Miguel Iribarren
Miguel Iribarren is Professor of Commercial Law at the University of Oviedo. He has also been a professor at the University of Zaragoza, as well as a visiting researcher at the Max Planck Institute for International and Comparative Private Law in Hamburg and at the Universities of Hamburg, Göttingen and Harvard.
His areas of research include corporate law, insolvency law, restructuring law and financial market law. In his most recent publications he has dealt with issues such as the liability of shareholders for resolutions of the general meeting, the right to preferential acquisition of shares, exclusion of shareholders, shareholders’ agreements, negative resolutions of the general meeting, duties of loyalty of shareholders or the role of shareholders in the restructuring of distressed companies.

The incorporation of Miguel Iribarren is a continuation of the academic and training commitment of the firm, which currently has five law professors. Iribarren joins Cándido Paz-Ares, Professor of Commercial Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid; Fernando Gómez-Pomar, Professor of Civil Law at the Universitat Pompeu Fabra de Barcelona; Jesús Mercader Uguina, Professor of Labor Law and Social Security at the Universidad Carlos III de Madrid; and Fernando Pantaleón, Professor of Civil Law at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid.
