HSF promotes four new of counsel
Herbert Smith Freehills has promoted four new of counsel in Madrid: Eduardo Dachary, Miguel Fraga, Miguel García-Casas and Carmen Jara. This appoints are part of a firm-wide promotion of 36 new lawyers to of counsel across the global network of the firm.
These promotions reflect their outstanding client focus and commitment to the firm, alongside their technical skills and leadership.
In line with the firm’s partner promotions this year, the new counsel play a key role in strengthening its core practice areas in addition to the firm’s strategic focus on private capital, energy transition and ESG, as well as tech and cyber risk.
Eduardo Dachary is based in Madrid and it belongs to the corporate – M&A, projects and energy area.
Before joining Herbert Smith Freehills, Eduardo worked for a spanish law-firm in its corporate division, focusing on M&A, private equity and project development transactions (especially in the energy sector). He also worked for the corporate department of another international law firm specialised in the energy sector.
In 2017, Eduardo was seconded to X-Elio Energy a spanish multinational company acting in the solar photovoltaic business. Eduardo has a Degree in Law and a Degree in Business Administration by University of Navarra (Navarre), degree which was partially pursued in Wilfrid Laurier University (Canada) and Korea University (Seoul, Republic of Korea).
Miguel Fraga is based in Madrid and it belongs to the corporate – M&A, energy and infrastructure area.
Miguel has a Law Degree and a Business Administration Degree from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and post graduate studies in International Maritime Law from Instituto Marítimo Español.
Prior to joining HSF, Miguel worked for a leading spanish law firm and has also in-house experience working for a multinational spanish company in the energy business.
Miguel García-Casasis is based in Madrid and it belongs to the disputes – corporate crime and investigations area.
Miguel has experience on dealing with dispute cases both in civil and criminal matters, including advocacy before the Spanish Courts. In addition, he has a background on (international and domestic) arbitration proceedings.
His professional practice is oriented to support clients on difficult scenarios and complex litigation cases.
Apart from a long experience acting as counsel of clients in front of the Spanish Courts (more than 70 hearings and more than 25 different criminal matters), he has expertise on arbitration cases and on the preparation of corporate defence protocols in the context of the Spanish Criminal Code.
He has Degree in law and Degree in Business Administration by Complutense University (Madrid), he has obtained the Advanced Studies Certificate and he is working on his PhD in Procedural Law.
Carmen Jara is based in Madrid and it belongs to the finance – general banking and finance area.
Carmen is a Senior Associate in the finance practice in the Madrid office, specialised in a wide range of financing transactions including leveraged finance, acquisition finance, real estate finance, project finance and restructuring and refinancing transactions. In addition, Carmen has been involved in several M&A transactions advising on corporate matters.
Carmen specialises in private equity, energy, infrastructure projects and real estate finance. She advises banks, alternative lenders, borrowers and sponsors in structuring and implementing all type of finance transactions. Carmen has also significant experience in advising in distress transactions.
In addition, Carmen is highly experienced in working with clients on multi-jurisdictional transactions. Carmen has a degree in law and business administration awarded by the Universidad Pontificia Comillas (ICADE E-3)
