ECIJA reinforces its Coporate area with a team from Ramón & Cajal

ECIJA has officially announced today the incorporation of Alberto Alonso Ureba as a partner, Antonio Roncero as of counsel, and six other professionals, from Ramón & Cajal Abogados

ECIJA continues its growth path and announced one of the most important operations in the Spanish Legal sector in recent times, with the arrival of Alberto Alonso Ureba and Antonio Roncero, both Commercial Law professors, as well as their whole team from Ramón y Cajal Abogados.

Eight new professionals join ECIJA, who will complete the firm’s Corporate and Commercial Law practice in a clear commitment of the firm to grow in the Corporate, Mergers and Securities Market areas, with a particular focus on the governance of listed companies. The new team is part of ECIJA’s Corporate area, which already has 20 partners and 52 professionals in Spain.

Alberto Alonso Ureba, new partner of ECIJA, has more than forty years of professional practice in the field of Corporate Law, with a particular focus on Mergers, Acquisitions and Corporate Governance. Prior to joining ECIJA, Alonso Ureba was head of the Commercial, Corporate and Corporate Governance areas at Ramón y Cajal and head of the Commercial Law and Markets areas at Baker & McKenzie. He is a leading lawyer in his respective areas of practice in a prestigious directory. In addition to his extensive career as a lawyer, he has played an important role as a director of major international companies (Endesa, Siemens Gamesa and Zeltia, among others). He is also a Commercial Law professor at the Universidad Rey Juan Carlos and has been a member of the General Codification Commission of the Ministry of Justice since 1997, and was the permanent representative of the Spanish Government before the Communities in the Directives on Companies.

He is also co-founder of the Revista de Derecho de Sociedades, directs the specialised publications La Ley Mercantil and Derecho del Mercado de Valores and sits on the editorial board of the Revista de Derecho de la Competencia y de la Distribución and on the advisory board of the Revista de Insolvencia & Reestructuraciones.

Antonio Roncero, the firm’s new of counsel, has more than twenty years of experience as an external advisor in the Corporate and Corporate fields to large companies, especially listed companies, financial institutions and agents operating in the securities markets. Roncero is a Commercial Law professor at the University of Castilla La Mancha. He is co-director of the Revista de Derecho de Sociedades, secretary of the Editorial Board of the Revista de Derecho del Mercado de Valores and member of the editorial board of several commercial law journals (among others, Revista La Ley Mercantil, Revista de Derecho Mercantil and Revista de Derecho Mercantil de editorial El Derecho).

In addition to his extensive academic and professional activity in Law, he has experience in the Corporate field, where he has been chairman of the Fundación Caja Castilla-La Mancha and member of the Board of Directors of Banco CCM.

Together with both new partner and of counsel,  their current team from Ramón y Cajal Abogados joins ECIJA. It is made up of six other professionals with significant experience in Commercial and Corporate Law; Cristina Casero, Marina Torres, Teresa Vara, Juan de Carlos, Luis Gimeno and Mónica Colomer.
