Iberian Lawyer hosts Legaltech Connect Spain
The online event counted on counsel, partners and CEOs of prestigious law firms and multinational companies
Iberian Lawyer hosted yesterday the event Legaltech Connect Spain web edition under the title: “Legaltech and the impact on law firms’ accounts: What happens to the added value?”, where partners, counsel and Legal directors and members of the sector had a space to talk about the incursion of technology in the Legal field, as well as the changes that have been triggered by it.
The event was presented by LC Publishing Group & Iberian Legal Group managing editor Ilaria Iaquinta, moderated by Iberian Lawyer & Latin American Lawyer journalist Antonella Puntriano, with the support of the law firm ECIJA.
Questions from the online audience, together with contributions from the following speakers, allowed for a debate on how the use of technology has changed legal processes:
Alejandro Touriño (pictured top centre), managing partner at ECIJA
Arturo Lacave (pictured top right), CEO at ValistiQ, the Legal procurement company
Inmaculada Joachim- W.Mateo (pictured bottom left), senior Legal counsel, Legal for Technology & Legal Transformation of Grupo Santander
Marina Bugallal (pictured bottom centre), general counsel Legal & Governance EMEA at NEC Corporation
Moisés Barrio Andrés (pictured bottom right), Legal counsel, Council of State of Spain, PhD, in Law, professor of Law, UCM
The webinar discussed how technology has helped to accelerate time-consuming processes, which has created new opportunities for lawyers to prepare themselves in other aspects. While some said they felt pressure from clients to implement technology, the main conclusion was that the focus should be on providing solutions to clients through the use of technology, which will be a great support to be more efficient, but where the added value and work of a lawyer will not be replaced by machines in the near future.
