Fieldfisher JAUSAS nabs Insolvency partner from Vaciero

Fieldfisher JAUSAS has hired Cristina Asencio, who joins from Vaciero as an Insolvency head partner

 

Fieldfisher JAUSAS has appointed Cristina Asencio (pictured) as partner head of the Restructuring and Insolvency Department in Madrid. Asencio, together with partner Tomás Nart, will lead and promote the firm’s Insolvency practice in Madrid and Barcelona, respectively.

Cristina Asencio comes to the firm from Vaciero, where she joined as a partner in October 2018 with the objective of creating and leading the Insolvency department in the Madrid office. Asencio has more than 10 years of experience in the area of Insolvency and Commercial Law, with a very active participation in Insolvency proceedings, both in representation of the debtor and the creditor. In addition, she has been appointed Insolvency Administrator in several Insolvency proceedings.

Asencio holds a PhD in Commercial Law from the Universidad Complutense de Madrid and is an associate professor in the School of Economics and Business Administration there. In addition, she is the author of several publications, including her monograph on “Rehabilitation of financing contracts”. She has also been a speaker at conferences, webinars and seminars on Insolvency matters. She is currently a member of the Board of Directors of AEMPI [Associón Española de Mujeres Profesionales de la Insovencia (Spanish Association of Women Insolvency Professionals)]. According to Asencio, “my goal in this new stage in Fieldfisher JAUSAS is to strengthen the Restructuring and Insolvency area from the Madrid office, together with a multidisciplinary team of professionals in the economic and legal fields, specialized in providing comprehensive legal advice to companies.”

The president and partner of Fieldfisher JAUSAS, Jordi Ruiz de Villa, emphasizes that “Cristina Asencio joins to strengthen the Restructuring and Insolvency area of the firm, where a few weeks ago, Tomás Nart also joined the Barcelona office. Both partners will lead a strategic area in which strong growth is expected in the current year.” The signing of Cristina Asencio “is the fifth addition to the company in the last six months”, emphasizes Ruiz de Villa, “demonstrating the strength of our growth and rejuvenation plan as well as the firm’s attractiveness to talent.”
