L&W incorporates Jose María Alonso to lead Public law in Madrid
Latham & Watkins has signed former Technical Secretary-General of the Ministry of Finance, José María Alonso, as counsel and head of Public law practice in Madrid
Alonso (pictured) is an experienced professional who joins the firm from the State Attorney General Office Subdirectorate for UE Matters (Subdirección General de Asuntos de la Unión Europea de la Abogacía General del Estado). Previously, he was Technical Secretary General of the Ministry of Finance and Business.

Alonso has held various positions in the Public Administration, including in the Criminal Law department of the State Attorney General’s Office, as State Attorney, among other relevant roles both in the public sector. Alonso graduated in 2007 with a double degree in Law and Business Administration from the Universidad Pontificia de Comillas and, after passing the State Attorney’s exams, he joined the State Attorney’s Office in Cantabria in 2011.
