WLW presents its new Insurance Law Committee

The organisation Women in a Legal World (WLW) has created a new Insurance Law Committee promoted by Laura Ochoa, partner at Clyde & Co, with the aim of promoting female leadership and knowledge sharing in the insurance sector.

In the words of Laura Ochoa, “in a sector marked by transformation and the constant emergence of new risks, the differential value lies in anticipation. This Commission was created precisely to share knowledge, identify trends and help insurance law evolve at the same pace as the market. I would like to give special thanks to my colleagues at the firm for their enthusiasm and excitement in promoting this initiative, as well as to those who jumped on board without hesitation as soon as the project was shared with them.”

The commission, promoted by Laura Ochoa Alonso, will have Katia Álvaro and Leyre Rosales, partners at the same firm, as co-heads, and Marta Fernández, associate, as Young coordinator. In addition, a working group has been formed, made up of professionals such as Constanza Gallegos, Isabel Cortés, Laura González, Marian Vasco, Mónica Calonje, Mónica Novillo, Nerea de la Fuente, Silvia Pérez and Soledad Abad, which will be responsible for addressing specific areas of interest, channelling legal reflection and promoting the practical application of knowledge.

The Commission’s objectives include raising the profile of, attracting and promoting female talent, creating a space for collaboration and networking to share experiences from legal, business and personal perspectives, and encouraging discussion and technical analysis with policyholders and risk managers.

Isabel Cortés highlighted that ‘the Insurance Law Commission of Women in a Legal World reinforces the sector’s commitment to diversity and sustainability, promoting collaboration and female leadership in a key area for the economy and society.’

For her part, Laura González Hernández stressed: ‘Welcoming, participating in and promoting this initiative is exciting in terms of promoting equal opportunities and boosting and raising the profile of female talent in a sector such as insurance, which is constantly evolving.’
