Global Aviation Resource Index

GARI was first launched in October 2021 and conceived as a comparative index of over 55 restructuring proceedings available in 30 key aviation jurisdictions in response to the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw airlines around the world enter insolvency and restructuring proceedings.

Now, in addition to tripling the number of jurisdictions it originally covered, it has also been expanded to include data and scores on repossessions and deregistrations for each of these jurisdictions.

A resource for numerous aviation industry participants, including financiers, lessors and airlines, GARI users can now easily compare proceedings in multiple jurisdictions to assist in planning new aircraft financing and leasing transactions, audit jurisdictional risk, deal with specific fact patterns for aircraft disputes and liens, and analyze actual or potential restructuring proceedings around the world.

It makes GARI data and scores available to clients for inclusion in their own financing and leasing risk models, and we can make them available to other clients upon request.

Saving time and risk. Added: “I am extremely proud of the work of the team and the collaboration of the 76 firms involved in preparing and perfecting GARI.”

WFW Structured Finance and Transport partner in Spain Laura Cadenas, commented: “The ability to compare the risks of different jurisdictions involved in aircraft (and engine) financing and leasing in a quick, simple and intuitive way with objective KPIs that allow scoring the different jurisdictions by risk, makes GARI a fundamental tool in complex transactions such as aircraft (and engine) financing and leasing.”
