WFW advises BW ESS on Spanish BESS acquisition
Watson Farley & Williams (WFW) has advised BW ESS on the acquisition from Navacant of two utility-scale standalone Spanish battery energy storage system (BESS) projects, with a combined capacity of 126 MW and up to 675 MWh.
The two projects, of 99 MW and 27 MW respectively, are located in the Valencia region and have been under development for approximately 18 months. They are expected to reach ready-to-build status in 2027, with commercial operations targeted for 2028.
BW ESS is an energy storage owner-operator that develops and operates large-scale battery storage projects supporting grid stability, renewable energy integration and long-term energy resilience; in Spain it is progressing an initial 2.2 GW pipeline comprising eight projects across several regions.
Navacant is a Spanish renewable energy and energy storage developer focused on projects that contribute to the energy transition and decarbonisation of the Spanish electricity system.
