W8: A Network to Empower Women Leaders Across Key Industries
This week, the launch of W8, a groundbreaking initiative akin to a “female G8,” brings together leading women professionals across eight crucial economic sectors: retail, banking, legal, pharmaceuticals, tourism, real estate, cybersecurity, and health and wellness. W8 aims to foster collaboration, promote female leadership, and support impactful social initiatives through a powerful network of professionals.
The newly formed W8men unites eight distinct communities of women leaders under one brand for the first time, creating a “network of networks.” The founding members include Cristina Delgado García, President of Women in Retail; Mayte Valverde Elices, President of Women in Banking; Marlen Estévez Sanz, President of Women in a Legal World; Elena Álvarez, President of Mujeres en Farma; Maribel Rodríguez, President of Women in Tourism; Carmen Panadero, President of Women in Real Estate; Eduvigis Ortiz, President of Women4Cyber Spain; and Ana Calderón, President of Las Mujeres Nos Movemos.
This forum seeks to drive connections, collaboration, and alignment among women from various industries through strategic alliances that promote responsible leadership, professional growth, and the visibility of female role models. Additionally, W8 members aim to take an active role in social causes. Together, the eight industries represented account for 56.4% of Spain’s GDP and have a direct impact on 38.6% of the country’s employment.
