VCA appoints two new partners
Valadas Coriel & Associados (“VCA”) has reinforced its partnership with the appointment of Sofia Quental and Marta Valadas Coriel
Valadas Coriel & Associados has announced the promotion of Sofia Quental and Marta Valadas Coriel to its partnership. Ana Santos Fontes, Claudia Cardoso and Sarah Lopes were promoted to coordinating associates.
According to João Valadas Coriel, managing partner of VCA: “These nominations reward the important contribution that each of these lawyers has made, in their specific areas of practice, for the growth and affirmation of VCA, both nationally, at an international level.”
He adds: “The results we achieved in 2021 largely reflect their resilience, determination, spirit of initiative and the excellent work they, together with their respective teams, developed for the benefit of our clients, often in conditions of great adversity. VCA has been growing steadily over the last few years, confirming its positioning in the market as an innovative and dynamic firm. In this sense, we will remain attentive and we will not hesitate to highlight the best and to reinforce the team, using external contracts, whenever we think this is the right path.”
Sofia Quental is part of the Private Wealth and Tax Department. She has been working with VCA since 2015 and was, for nine years, a tax consultant at PwC, in Lisbon, Dublin and Madrid, where she carried out Tax planning and consulting on VAT and IRC for international groups. She holds a degree in Law from Universidade Lusíada de Lisboa and two postgraduate degrees: in Taxation (from the Instituto Superior de Gestão de Lisboa) and in Theory and Practice of Tax Litigation (from the Institute of Economic, Financial and of the Faculty of Law of Lisbon). The lawyer is an arbitrator fom the CAAD (Center for Administrative Arbitration) namely in matters related to Income Tax, Value Added Tax and International Tax Law.
Marta Valadas Coriel joined VCA in 2012. Her pactice is focused on Civil, Commercial and Criminal Litigation, as well as in matters related to the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). She took the Law Management Programme at Instituto de Empresa in Madrid. She holds a degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.
Ana Santos Fontes has been with VCA since 2007, in the departments of Civil, Criminal and Administrative Offenses. She has considerable experience in matters related to Litigation. She holds a degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of Universidade Nova de Lisboa, and a post-graduate degree in Business Law from the Institute of Labour Law of the University of Lisbon.
Claudia Cardoso is one of the coordinators of the Immigration Department at VCA, responsible for the Real Estate and Investment areas. With the firm since 2018, she also collaborates on a regular basis with the Department of Corporate Law. She has extensive experience in matters related to Corporate and Commercial Law, Civil Law and Real Estate Law. She hods a degree in Law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon and has a postgraduate degree in Business Law from ISCTE.
Sarah Lopes is one of the coordinators of the Immigration Department at VCA, responsible for the teams that accompany clients in the D7, D2 and Golden Visa programmes. She joined the firm in 2020. She holds a degrere in Law from the Catholic University of Pernambuco / Brazil in Tourism and from ASCES-UNITA (Centro Universitário Tabosa de Almeida)-Pernambuco / Brazil, in Law. She is registered with the Brazilian Bar Association and the Portuguese Bar Association.
