Uría Menéndez wins five prizes at Expansión legal awards

Other firms recognised at the Madrid ceremony included Garrigues, Sagardoy Abogados and Ecija, while Abertis bid won Best Deal award

Uría Menéndez won the award for Best Law Office in Spain at the 2018 Expansión Legal Excellence Awards. Other winners honoured at the Madrid ceremony – hosted by the Spanish business newspaper Expansión – included Uría Menéndez managing partner Luis de Carlos who won the Lawyer of the Year award.
Uría Menéndez also won the Corporate Law Firm of the Year award as well as winning the Banking Law Firm of the Year prize. Meanwhile, Garrigues won the Tax Law Firm of the Year award.
The Employment Law Firm of the Year award went to Sagardoy Abogados. The award for best intellectual property, technology and data protection law firm went to Ecija.  
ACS and Atlantia’s bid for Abertis received the Best Deal award – the firms honoured for their work on this transaction were Uría Menéndez, Clifford Chance, Allen & Overy, Linklaters, Garrigues, CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo, Herbert Smith Freehills and DLA Piper.

Leadership and vision
The biggest winner of the night was Uría Menéndez, which was recognised in five categories. The firm was commended for its productivity, competitiveness and position in international rankings. It was praised for its work on multijurisdictional transactions.
Meanwhile, the firm’s managing partner Luis de Carlos was commended for his leadership and strategic vision.
