Uría Menéndez announces death of co-founder

Uría Menéndez has announced the death of the firm’s co-founder and honorary president Aurelio Menéndez Menéndez.

In addition to being a lawyer, Menéndez Menéndez was Spain’s Minister of Education and Science from 1976 to 1977.

Born in Gijón in 1927, Menéndez Menéndez was an Honorary Member of the Asturian Academy of Jurisprudence (“Academia Asturiana de Jurisprudencia”), as well as an Emeritus Judge of the Constitutional Court.

A Uría Menéndez statement said: “It is with deep regret that we announce the death, in Madrid, of Aurelio Menéndez Menéndez. Uría Menéndez has lost a great teacher, an example of magnanimity, generosity, decency and modesty. He will be greatly missed and remembered by us all.”
