Topshop instructs Cuatrecasas on Lisbon store opening

UK retailer Topshop was advised by Cuatrecasas, Gonçalves Pereira on the opening of a store in Lisbon.

The store, which is scheduled to open for business in the first quarter of 2016, will occupy over 1000 m2 in the Colombo Shopping Center.

The Cuatrecasas team was led by real estate partner Nuno Sá Carvalho, and included employment partner Maria da Glória Leitão.

Topshop, which is part of the Arcadia group, has more than 500 stores around the world. The opening of the new Lisbon store represents a return to the Lisbon market – its Rua do Carmo store closed in 1998.

The Arcadia group has more than 45,000 employees and posted operating profits of approximately €350 million last year.

Sá Carvalho said: “The commercial real estate market in Portugal is in a very positive cycle, and the return of Topshop to occupy premises of such considerable size in one of the main shopping centers in Lisbon is evidence of that.

“We are currently advising several other groups planning to introduce new brands in Portugal, as well as groups seeking to strengthen their position in the Portuguese market.”
