Prior to joining TELLES, Ferreira de Almeida was a legal advisor to the deputy minister and secretary of state for Energy of the Portuguese Government, focusing on the Energy and Mining sectors, in matters concerning both the domestic and European markets.

A spokesperson from Telles said: “Rui’s accrued experience and expertise on the Legal and regulatory frameworks, namely in what concerns renewable energy, hydrogen and other renewable gases, including Power-to-X projects, and the battery value chain, bring significant added value to TELLES’ recognised capability and expertise in this sector, in line with the challenges and needs generated by the energy transition and climate action.”

Regarding this move, Ferreira de Ameida commented: “As many of you may know, my last few years have been spent in service of public office, after gladly accepting the invitation that Joao Galamba, the deputy minister and secretary of state for Energy of the Portuguese Government, to serve under him as an advisor. It was the most challenging endeavor I have ever faced – complex sectors under revolution, with strong and assertive policy vision functioning as a driving force for change. I believe I succeeded in bringing some positive contribution. To the deputy minister, and the remaining Cabinet, a most sincere thank you.”

The lawyer added: “I will now take up a new challenge at TELLES, working within the Energy and Natural Resources and Environment and Climate Change groups. I thank all of those at TELLES who trusted in my abilities and added value, starting with Bruno Azevedo Rodrigues.”
