SRS Advogados acts for JP Inspiring Knowledge on €150m Kenyan school scheme

SRS Advogados advised Portuguese company JP Inspiring Knowledge (JP-IK), the manufacturer of Magalhães laptops, on €150m worth of contracts for the supply of laptops to 13,000 Kenyan schools.

JP-IK took part in the tender for the deal in Kenya in 2015 – in partnership with Moi University – and emerged as the overall winner of two of the three lots included in the tender.

Between now and March 2017, the Portuguese corporation will supply and install 695,000 computers for students and teachers in 13,000 schools, as well as other apparatus including servers and braille printers. Additionally, the Moi University/JP-IK partnership will provide technical training to around 33,000 teachers.

The SRS team was led by partner Nuno Miguel Prata, and also included partner Paulo Bandeira and senior lawyer Francisco Martins Caetano.
