Soriano i Piqueras hires Belencoso in Valencia
Soriano i Piqueras has recruited Emilio José Belencoso Rodrigo to reinforce its public law, administrative criminal law, and economic criminal law departments — the core practice areas of the Valencia and Madrid-based firm.
Belencoso is already working alongside firm head Víctor Soriano i Piqueras on high-profile matters, including the popular prosecution in the so-called Puig case and Ribó case — proceedings that sit at the confluence of criminal law, public administration, and accountability of public officials.
The profile
Belencoso holds a law degree from the Universidad Católica de Valencia, a Master’s in Legal Practice from the same institution, and a Master’s in Corporate Legal Advice from the Fundación de Estudios Bursátiles y Financieros de Valencia. He also holds specialist training in civil law and succession law from the Ilustre Colegio de Abogados de Valencia.
He began his legal career at Salvatierra Abogados and has practised as an independent lawyer since 2022. In parallel, he has built a substantial institutional profile: he has served as a councillor at the Ayuntamiento de Almàssera since 2011 and as mayor of the municipality since 2023. He also chairs EMTRE (Entidad Metropolitana para el Tratamiento de Residuos), sits on the governing board of EMSHI (Entidad Metropolitana para Servicios Hidráulicos), and serves as a member of the Health Council of the Valencia-Clínico-Malvarrosa department, nominated by the Federación Valenciana de Municipios y Provincias.
