Sónia Fernandes Martins joins Fieldfisher Portugal

Fieldfisher Portugal has incorporated Sónia Fernandes Martins as head of tax. With over 20 years of experience in tax litigation and strategic advisory, she has advised national and international clients on matters such as corporate income tax (IRC), VAT, stamp duty, and procedural issues, combining technical rigor with a practical, results-oriented approach. She joins as senior associate.

Sónia Fernandes also has experience as an arbitrator at CAAD – the Administrative Arbitration Center – and in recent years has held leadership roles at international law firms, coordinating teams dedicated to resolving tax disputes. Her experience includes handling cases before national courts and European institutions, such as the General Court and the Court of Justice of the European Union, providing her with deep expertise in cross-border and EU-level litigation.

According to co-managing partners André Miranda and João Antunes, this appointment “represents a strategic step to consolidate our tax practice and strengthen our capacity to address complex and high-impact matters for our clients.” They add that “Sónia’s experience and knowledge will be decisive for our continued growth and our ability to deliver innovative and effective solutions.”
