Santiago Sainz new partner at Belda, Bordón & Merodio
Belda, Bordón & Merodio has announced the addition of Santiago Sainz Ruiz as a new partner. Sainz Ruiz (second from the right) will spearhead and strengthen the firm’s Financial Law and Restructuring department.
With over 12 years of national and multijurisdictional experience, he has advised both debtors and creditors across various financing areas, including corporate, project, and acquisition finance, as well as debt restructurings for some of Spain’s leading companies, particularly in the energy, infrastructure, and real estate sectors.
Previously a senior associate at Uría Menéndez, Sainz Ruiz also spent six months at Slaughter and May, where he was involved in financing and debt restructuring transactions governed by English law.
In addition, he has led numerous M&A operations in the energy and real estate sectors, supporting funds and industrial clients in their investments and divestments.
The new partner at Belda, Bordón & Merodio highlights the critical role of the mid-market in the Spanish economy and stresses the importance of removing financial barriers to its growth. “Mid-market companies are fundamental to the business fabric, yet they often face obstacles that hinder their development. It is essential to design financing structures tailored to their needs, enabling them to operate and grow without the constraints they sometimes encounter,” Sainz Ruiz commented.
