Santiago Mediano strengthens Litigation Practice with senior hires
Santiago Mediano Abogados has reinforced its litigation practice with the addition of Jesús Castellano Gallego and Javier González Blesa, two senior lawyers with extensive experience across civil, commercial, administrative, and white-collar criminal litigation. The move, led by firm president Santiago Mediano and managing partner Javier Berrocal, comes at a time of rising high-stakes disputes between companies.
These disputes are increasingly complex, often combining technical depth with evolving regulatory frameworks. They demand teams capable of anticipating risks, coordinating cross-jurisdictional strategies, and delivering effective solutions in large-scale proceedings.
Castellano Gallego joins from ILP Abogados, where he spent two decades. He brings a strong track record in civil, commercial, and administrative litigation, including contractual, corporate, and financial disputes, as well as insolvency proceedings in which he has also served as court-appointed insolvency administrator. He holds a law degree from the Complutense University of Madrid and an LL.M. from the University of Minnesota.
González Blesa arrives from Castellarnau Penalistas. He specializes in white-collar crime, corporate criminal liability, intellectual property, and compliance. Over his career, he has led more than 1,500 proceedings in courts across Spain and has also handled cases with a European dimension. A doctor of law from Universitat Abat Oliba CEU, he lectures in criminal law at UAO CEU and the Universitat Oberta de Catalunya, and has specific training in compliance.
“In Santiago Mediano Abogados we structure our teams around areas of specialization, but always foster coordinated work across practices to offer a transversal approach,” said firm president Santiago Mediano. “The arrival of Castellano and González Blesa strengthens this dynamic and allows us to coordinate mixed strategies in disputes that combine civil, commercial, and criminal dimensions. Our goal is clear: to provide our clients with a team that combines global vision with execution focused on results.”
Santiago Mediano Abogados advises companies in sectors such as technology, finance, construction, audiovisual, and retail. Earlier this year, the firm expanded internationally through an alliance with TRD Advogados in Brazil and subsequently launched, together with Keep in Tax, Ganesa Cultural Tax Lease, a vehicle for structuring cultural investment projects.
