Ramón y Cajal welcomes Cayetana Lado Castro-Rial as a new partner

Ramón y Cajal Abogados has welcomed Cayetana Lado Castro-Rial, previously director of legal counsel at the FROB, as a new partner.

A State Attorney and Lawyer for the Community of Madrid, currently on leave of absence, Cayetana has developed her professional career in both the public and private sectors.

Over the last year, she has headed the legal department of the FROB (Fund for Orderly Bank Restructuring) and between 2021 and 2024 she headed the legal department and the Secretariat of the General Council of the Official Credit Institute (ICO).

Previously, she held the positions of State Attorney-Head of the Insolvency Area of the Sub-Directorate General for Contentious Affairs of the State Attorney’s Office and Deputy State Attorney-Head of the Central Legal Service of the AEAT, where she was responsible for coordinating insolvency proceedings.

In addition, Cayetana has also been very active in academia. She received her PhD in Law in 2025 from the Complutense University of Madrid with honors cum laude and teaches specialization and master’s courses in bankruptcy and banking law at various academic institutions, such as the Carlos III University of Madrid and the CES Cardenal Cisneros, among others. She is also the author of numerous specialised publications. She has also been a member of research groups and an honorary collaborator at the Faculty of Law of the Complutense University of Madrid.

Finally, in the institutional sphere, her work as a member of the Spanish delegation to UNCITRAL and of the Special Section of the General Codification Commission for the Reform of Insolvency Law is particularly noteworthy.
