PKF Attest launches new Regulatory & Public Policy area, adds partner

PKF Attest incorporates former Deloitte partner Rafael Cámara to lead the new Regulation & Public Policy practice area

In his team, Rafael will count with Elisa Gil, as Regulatory director, and Fernando Nuñez-Robres, who led with him Deloitte Regulatory management in Spain from 2004 to date.

Rafael Cámara is a lawyer and economist with a degree from the Universidad de Deusto. He is a lawyer at the Basque Court of Auditors. He began his professional career as an auditor at PwC. His activity as a member of Spanish Congress for the PP party extended over seven years as a Member of Parliament for Álava. In 2003 he was appointed by the Minister of Finance, secretary- general of Fiscal, Territorial and Community Policy and secretary of the Council of Fiscal and Financial Policy where he directed the autonomous financing system, and he was also in charge of the ECOFIN agenda in the European Union.

In 2004 he joined Deloitte as a partner and as the national head of Regulation, having developed his professional career there until approximately a year ago when he was appointed partner in charge of Deloitte’s European Public Policy Office in EMEA (Brussels). For four years he was a member of the National Securities Market Commission as a member of the Advisory Committee representing the auditing profession and, subsequently, as a member of the Group of Experts on Corporate Governance which drafted the Unified Code of Good Governance.

Rafael is a pioneer in Spain in the professional management of Regulation and the measurement of Regulatory impacts. With this Regulatory practice, PKF Attest will help companies to professionalise their departments responsible for Regulation and culturally transform the still many Boards of Directors that lack an effective and proven methodology to understand, manage and adapt to the immense Regulatory activity. The new value added that will be incorporated thanks to PKF Attest’s technological specialisation is that of introducing new technologies in Regulatory management such as Business Intelligence or Data Analytics applications.
