Pinsent Masons names John Maciver senior partner
Pinsent Masons has elected John Maciver as its new senior partner. Maciver, currently a partner in the firm’s Finance practice and head of its Financial Services sector, will succeed Andrew Masraf with effect from 1 October 2026.
Under Maciver’s leadership, the Financial Services sector has grown more than 20% over the past two financial years. He joined the firm as a trainee in 1995, beginning his career in Scotland before moving to London. Since returning to the firm in 2008, he has played a role in shaping the strategy of the Financial Services sector, driving growth across the Finance, Restructuring and Funds practices, leading client relationships and contributing to the integration of technology into legal service delivery within the financial sector.
John Maciver, senior partner elect, said: “It is an honour to have been elected senior partner. Our sector has evolved significantly in recent years, and that pace of change will continue. We have made, and will continue to make, investments in people and technology that allow our clients to rely on us when the stakes are highest. Under my leadership we will remain focused on delivering an excellent service to our clients in our key markets, drawing on our investments in technology and talent to drive further growth and seeking always to offer innovative solutions.”
He added: “I would like to convey my sincere thanks to Andrew for his leadership over the past four years and for his contribution to the firm over 33 years.”
Andrew Masraf, the outgoing senior partner, said: “Leading the firm over the past four years has been an enormous privilege, not only for what we have achieved but also for the trust and determination of our team to always pursue better results. Amid considerable volatility, the firm has maintained its focus on its long-term strategy and continued to progress toward fulfilling our vision. Congratulations to John. I know he will continue to inspire the business to break the mould, think differently and build on what makes us distinctive.”
