Pérez-Llorca loses arbitration star

Head of Litigation and Arbitration at Pérez-Llorca, David Arias is leaving to establish his own firm, Arias SLP, focusing purely on litigation and arbitration. Arias is widely recognised, at home and abroad, for expertise in complex domestic and international disputes, and is current Chair of the Club Español de Arbitraje.

“It has been an extraordinary 15 years leading the Litigation and Arbitration team, but I now want to move to the next phase in my career, where I can establish a firm focused on arbitration and litigation and work unhindered by any in-house conflicts of interest,” says Arias. “I leave on the very best of terms and will continue to collaborate with the firm over the coming months to ensure a seamless transition.”
This follows the worldwide trend of arbitrators leaving major firms to set up own offices. For example, Spain’s Miguel Ángel Fernández-Ballesteros notably left Gómez-Acebo & Pombo and is current President of the Madrid Court of Arbitration.
