Athletes’ knowledge of their rights and responsibilities
The signing of the agreement with the leading law firm in Spain, Pérez-Llorca, means adding to the program an important asset in terms of training in legal aspects, basic knowledge about the rights, obligations and responsibilities of all citizens, as well as delving into everything related to sports law.
The inclusion of this important legal partner will mean a structural improvement of the Spain First Fellowship in its commitment to make the path of rugby players more enriching, thus helping them to develop their full potential.
“Pérez-Llorca’s support is important in the 360º training itinerary we propose. We consider it essential that our athletes know their rights and responsibilities as well as the legal framework in which they move personally and professionally, in this case, everything related to sports law,” says Margarita Ortiz, designer of the program and director of the Royal Spanish Rugby Federation.
“For us it is an honor to join the Spain First Fellowship program and to be able to guide our country’s athletes in different legal disciplines to help them in their working life once they leave elite competition,” said Pedro Pérez-Llorca, managing partner of Pérez-Llorca.
The experimental pilot launched in March with the Spanish Women’s Rugby 7s National Team has demonstrated the effectiveness of the system to identify and capture national talent, guide them during their sporting career and, in parallel, provide them with a professionalized, holistic, comprehensive and measurable accompaniment. This program is already helping players to undertake and achieve training opportunities, connection with the labor market and personal development, while pursuing and achieving excellence in professional rugby, thus facilitating professional reinvention once they finish their sporting career.
