Paxlegal launches art space in Lisbon office

Paxlegal has launched Paxlegal+Arte, an art space integrated into the firm’s office designed to host rotating temporary exhibitions by Portuguese and international artists. The initiative marks an effort to bring contemporary art into the legal environment, offering a distinct experience for both staff and visitors, states the law firm.

The project was driven by founding partner Bárbara Pestana, who notes that “law firm workspaces are increasingly conceived with a broader purpose in mind — their architecture and décor shaped not only by business needs but also by the identity they project”. In her view, “an art collection within a law office goes well beyond decorative intent, and bringing art into the legal sphere creates a genuinely different experience for everyone who passes through the space”.

Inaugural exhibition

The first exhibition, already open to visitors, is by artist João Figueiredo and is titled “Without Witness.” The show brings together works developed between 2024 and 2026, exploring the limits of human representation by crossing classical references with contemporary interventions. For this project, Figueiredo combined existing recent works with new pieces conceived specifically for the Paxlegal space-

The title “Without Witness,” according to the artist, “functions almost as a provocation, on the premise that no work truly exists without the gaze of another. In a setting where narratives, arguments, and testimonies are constructed daily, the exhibition aims to introduce images that interrogate memory, truth, silence, and representation”. Visits to the space and information about the works on display can be requested through the law firm’s website.
