Paxlegal adds Francisco de Mendonça as of counsel for corporate

Paxlegal has brought in Francisco de Mendonça Tavares as of counsel, strengthening its corporate, capital markets, private clients, and investment practices. Tavares has more than 25 years of experience across national and international law firms, where he held partner-level roles throughout his career. He joins from Eaglestone Capital Partners where he was founding partner.

Francisco de Mendonça Tavares has built a practice centred on corporate law, M&A, banking and finance, and real estate, with active involvement in venture capital, private equity, and corporate governance. Over the course of his career, he has advised on complex investment transactions, corporate reorganisations, and asset structuring, as well as assisting private clients, family offices, and business groups on wealth management, succession planning, and family business restructuring.

Alongside his legal practice, Tavares has held executive and non-executive board positions across various business groups and is a founding partner and director of a venture capital firm regulated by the CMVM, where he is involved in fund structuring, investor relations, and deal origination and execution.

He holds a law degree from the Faculdade de Direito da Universidade Católica Portuguesa, an LL.M. in International Business Law from King’s College London, and a postgraduate qualification in Accounting and Finance from the Universidade Católica Portuguesa.
