Pares strenghtens its tax department
Pares has strenghtened its tax department with the addition of Tiago Sousa Freitas, who joins the firm as a senior associate. In recent years, the lawyer has focused mainly on matters related to tax litigation, and he comes from Sousa Machado, Ferreira da Costa & Associados.
“The reinforcement of our tax department reflects the firm’s commitment to keeping pace with the evolution of the sector and the new responsibilities that come with it,” explains João de Freitas e Costa, managing partner. “The tax area requires multidisciplinary technical knowledge in order to effectively respond to the many challenges posed daily by our clients. In this sense, it is essential that we can count on the collaboration of the best professionals.”
Tiago Sousa Freitas began his professional career at Nobre Guedes, Mota Soares & Associados. In 2015, he joined Leite de Campos, Soutelinho & Associados, and four years later moved to Deloitte Legal, where he worked as an associate and then manager (2019–2024). Freitas holds a Law degree and a Master’s in Legal Sciences from the Faculty of Law of the University of Coimbra. He also holds a postgraduate degree in Taxation from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Portugal, and an Executive Education in International Taxation from the International Tax Center at the University of Leiden.
