Orlegi takes over Sporting de Gijón: the advisors

The Mexican group Orlegi Sports has acquired s majority stake in Sporting de Gijón’s share capital.

Uría Menéndez advised Orlegi on the acquisition and financial aspects of the transaction with a team led by Pablo González-Espejo and David López Velázquez with the support of Guillermo Canalejo, Sergio Ponce and Manuel Vélez.

KPMG advised on the due diligence of the acquirer. All labour law and employment law assistance and advise during the transaction was led by Francisco Fernandez (partner) and Francisco Artacho (senior manager).The Public Law team of KPMG Abogados, led by Ana López Carrascal (director) has also reviewed the administrative titles obtained by Real Sporting de Gijón, S.A.D. for performing its activities in the main installations, such as ‘El Molinón’ Stadium, the Mareo Soccer School, and the club’s main store, as well as the administrative conditions for the transaction. The Corporate and M&A team of KPMG Abogados, led by Rafael Aguilar (partner) and Alejandro Blázquez (senior manager) has participated in the legal review of Real Sporting de Gijón. And the M&A tax team of KPMG Abogados, headed by Álvaro Silva (partner) and Pedro Triguero (senior manager) supported Orlegi Sports with the tax review of the club.
