New player: Grant Thornton launches legal practice in Portugal

Grant Thornton Portugal has launched its legal practice, as a new service line among audit, tax and advisory with the establishment of Grant Thornton & Associados, Advogados Sociedade Multidisciplinar (Grant Thornton Legal). The new legal area launches with three partners – the lawyers Ana Cristina Borges, Artur Filipe da Silva and Miguel Ramos Ascensão – supported by a team of four additional lawyers.

Grant Thornton International is a global network of independent firms present in more than 150 countries. In Portugal, Grant Thornton provides audit, tax and advisory services and is led by Susana Melo, CEO (tax & advisory) and Pedro Lisboa Nunes, CEO (audit). The board of Grant Thornton Tax & Advisory also includes Pedro Santos, head of tax, and Gonçalo Guerra, head of advisory.

“The creation of the legal practice further reinforces the firm’s multidisciplinary consulting approach and expands the support offered to clients on legal matters related to business activity”, states the law firm.

According to Susana Melo, “by integrating the legal practice into our service offering, we enhance our ability to support clients through a truly multidisciplinary approach, combining legal, tax and financial expertise to address the increasingly complex challenges of the market.” She adds: “We are prepared to grow with purpose and to contribute to a new phase in multidisciplinary professional services in Portugal.”

Grant Thornton Legal’s value proposition is based on the integration of legal expertise and market know-how within a multidisciplinary approach. The new practice will operate in coordination with law firms and in-house legal departments, offering complementary services that promote efficiency and generate value for clients, states the firm.
