New incorporation at the Peruvian Academy of Law

The Board of Directors of the Peruvian Academy of Law has unanimously agreed on the incorporation of Bernardo Cremades Sanz-Pastor (pictured) as Honorary Academician. This category corresponds to the highest quality contemplated in the Statutes of the organisation with respect to foreign jurists of excellent trajectory.

“It is always a source of pride to see your work recognised and to be part of the Peruvian Academy is a great honour”, says the elected jurist, Bernardo Cremades Sanz-Pastor. “Spanish jurists are highly valued in Peru. In fact, there are already other spanish as honorary academicians, which gives an idea of the high professional level of our country’s jurists”, he adds.

Cremades is a founding partner of the firm B. Cremades y Asociados, Professor at the Faculty of Law and Honorary Member of the Royal Academy of Jurisprudence and Legislation of Spain. His activity is mainly focused on international commercial arbitration and investment protection. He has acted as counsel, co-arbitrator and chairman of the arbitral tribunal in more than 370 arbitrations.

The jurist’s international recognition is wide-ranging. He has been awarded the Verdienskreutz by the President of the Federal Republic of Germany. He has also been appointed Chevalier de l’Ordre National du Mérite by the President of the French Republic. In Spain, he was awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic, the Order of Civil Merit and the Grand Cross of the Order of San Raimundo de Peñafort for his great contribution to the development of arbitration.
