Monereo Meyer Abogados Expands to the Canary Islands
Monereo Meyer Abogados, a law firm specializing in advising companies, banks, and foreign estates, particularly those from German-speaking countries, announces the opening of its new office in the Canary Islands. The new office in Tenerife, located in La Orotava, joins the firm’s existing offices in Madrid, Barcelona, Palma, and Lisbon in Portugal. Leading the Canary Islands office are Stefan Meyer, founding partner of the firm and head of Real Estate Law, and Gustavo Yanes, partner in charge of Tax Law.
The decision to open in the Canary Islands stems from the firm’s commitment to serving a market with a significant presence of international citizens, especially those from German-speaking countries, whether for residential purposes or business ventures on the islands. Monereo Meyer Abogados will provide legal assistance in areas such as real estate buying and financing, as well as the development of tourist complexes focusing on sustainability, renewable energies, and urban planning. Tax advisory services will include expertise in the Beckham Law and its benefits for non-residents in Spain, as well as the ZEC (Canary Islands Special Zone).
Stefan Meyer states: “Following the inauguration of our office in Lisbon in 2022, the opening of our Canary Islands office is a natural step directly related to the traditional clientele profile. The majority of our clients are companies, estates, and other investors from abroad, primarily from the DACH countries (Germany, Austria, and Switzerland), with economic interests in Spain. We are confident that our intercultural approach will fill a gap in the legal sector in the Canary Islands.”
Gustavo Yanes adds: “This new chapter in our firm’s journey will undoubtedly serve as a new growth catalyst for us. We look forward to assisting our clients in the Canary Islands in advancing their business activities with legal certainty, optimizing their tax strategies to the fullest. As a native of the Canary Islands, this project is particularly exciting for me.”
