Mitsui instructs Freshfields on €416m Gestamp acquisition

Mitsui was advised by Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer on the acquisition of a 12.53 per cent stake in Spain’s Gestamp Automoción.

The deal was valued at €416 million – according to Mergermarket – though a Gestamp statement said Mitsui’s investment would be “adjusted based on the Spanish multinational’s future financial results”.

The transaction has been structured through a special purpose company called Gestamp 2020, which will be held by ACEK (the Riberas family’s holding company, formerly known as Corporacion Gestamp) and Mitsui.

In 2015, the Gestamp Group’s revenue was €7 billion and earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) was €760 million.
