Miranda strengthens its partnership with two promotions

Miranda & Associados has just reinforced its partnership group with the promotion of former senior associate Rosário Paixão to partner. Also noteworthy is João Amaral‘s promotion to equity partner. “With these promotions, the firm once again demonstrates its commitment to organic growth and to recognizing the merit and contribution of its lawyers to its progress, both nationally and internationally”, states Miranda.

Rosário Paixão, the newly appointed partner, rejoined the firm in 2010 and has developed her practice in the areas of mining law and commercial and corporate law. She is also a key member of the team dedicated to the Angolan jurisdiction. She holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the Catholic University of Porto, and postgraduate degrees in management and taxation from the Institute of Advanced Studies in Finance and Taxation, as well as in international commercial law from the Faculty of Law of the University of Lisbon.

João Amaral, Miranda’s most recent equity partner, joined the firm in 2006 and has had a multidisciplinary practice, with a focus on labor law, litigation, and international clients in the energy sector. He also plays a key role in the Equatorial Guinea jurisdiction, where he is one of the partners responsible for coordinating the jurisdictional group. João holds a law degree from the Faculty of Law of the Lusíada University of Lisbon and an LL.M. in international business law from the Leiden Law School in the Netherlands.

Diogo Xavier da Cunha, managing partner of Miranda, says: “We are pleased to welcome Rosário to our group of partners. She is a colleague who has been with us for many years, who identifies with our values and who works tirelessly to provide our clients with legal services of the highest standard. João Amaral’s promotion to equity partner is also a great source of pride and satisfaction for us. His journey is truly illustrative of the firm’s international scope. His personal qualities, exceptional talent, and commitment have been extremely important to the positioning of Miranda and the Miranda Alliance in advising leading international clients in a particularly demanding jurisdiction such as Equatorial Guinea.”
