Miranda elects new board chairman following lawyer exodus
Lisbon-based law firm Miranda has elected Diogo Xavier da Cunha – the firm´s managing partner – as chairman of its board of directors for the period 2015-2018.
The seven-member Board is responsible for the day-to-day running of the firm, including co-ordinating with affiliated firms in the Miranda Alliance network.
The other Board members are Alberto Galhardo Simões, Catarina Távora, Luís Oliveira, Rita Correia, Ana Pinelas Pinto and João Luís Traça.
A firm statement said the election of Xavier da Cunha “reflects a strong desire within the firm to drive forward the momentum of recent years, to further develop the Miranda brand and its market-leading Lusophone and African practices.”
The election of Da Cunha follows the departure of 24 Miranda lawyers – including six partners – to rival firm Vieira de Almeida.
Among the lawyers to leave was Miranda´s former managing partner Rui Amendoeira.
