María Guinot new Clifford Chance’s litigation and arbitration partner
Clifford Chance has announced the appointment of María Guinot as a partner in its Litigation and Arbitration practice in Madrid, strengthening the firm’s capabilities in regulatory investigations and financial sector disputes. The move underscores Clifford Chance’s commitment to deepening its bench in Spain’s increasingly complex legal and regulatory environment.
Guinot, a State Attorney on leave of absence with over 20 years of legal experience, joins from Deloitte Legal, where she was the Head of Legal and a member of the firm’s Global Executive Committee. Her arrival represents a major addition to the firm’s dispute resolution practice, which is led in Madrid by Fernando Irurzun.
Slated to join in the coming weeks, María Guinot brings a wealth of expertise in public law, regulatory frameworks, and high-stakes litigation—especially within the financial sector. Her career spans both the public and private sectors, having previously held senior roles in Spain’s public administration, including Director of Regulation and Compliance at Sareb.
Before Deloitte, she led the regulated sectors practice at CMS Albiñana & Suárez de Lezo, advising on matters involving public entities and heavily regulated industries.
Guinot’s arrival marks a strategic investment for the firm in Madrid, as clients increasingly demand sophisticated legal support in the face of evolving regulatory scrutiny, complex litigation, and cross-border enforcement.
