Mar Barreno joins KPMG Abogados as partner
KPMG Abogados has significantly reinforced its transfer pricing and international taxation practice with the appointment of Mar Barreno as a new partner. Barreno brings deep expertise from the Spanish Tax Agency (AEAT), where she most recently served as Head of the Comparability Unit within the National Office for International Taxation (ONFI).

With over 14 years of experience in Spain’s tax administration, Barreno has held key positions including roles in mutual agreement procedures on transfer pricing and as Deputy Director for International Taxation at the Directorate General for Taxation (DGT). In these capacities, she led negotiations on international tax disputes, contributed to OECD and EU working groups, and participated in the development of regulatory proposals such as the EU directive on tax dispute resolution mechanisms and Spain’s Digital Services Tax.
Her addition brings the KPMG transfer pricing and international tax team to five partners and 65 professionals, bolstering its capabilities in advising multinational clients on complex cross-border tax matters.
Barreno holds dual degrees in Law and Business Administration from Universidad Carlos III and a master’s degree in public administration, public policy, and taxation from UNE.
With her unique combination of regulatory insight and practical experience, KPMG Abogados enhances its positioning as a key player in the evolving landscape of international tax law.
