Linklaters and Cuatrecasas advise on Iberian funeral company deal

Linklaters advised Canadian pension provider Ontario Teachers’ Pension Plan on the acquisition of Iberian funeral services company Mémora.

The seller, investment management company 3i Group, was advised by Cuatrecasas, according to Mergermarket.

A 3i statement said it would receive proceeds of £117m as a result of the deal.

Mémora was founded in 2001 and is headquartered in Barcelona. It has 115 parlours, 24 crematoriums, 13 cemeteries and 91 retail outlets in the Iberian Peninsula.

3i invested in Mémora in 2008. In 2011, Mémora increased its shareholding in Serveis Funeraris de Barcelona to 85 per cent, and, in 2015, it acquired Agnus Dei.
