Linklaters advising Chinese consortium on bid for Portgual’s EDP
Linklaters is advising a Chinese consortium – including China Three Gorges and CNIC – on its bid to takeover Portuguese utility company EDP.
The consortium is also being advised by Serra Lopes, Cortes Martins & Associados.
Meanwhile, EDP has instructed MLGTS.
The bid has been valued at €9 billion.
China Three Gorges already holds a 23 per cent stake in EDP, while Chinese state company CNIC owns nearly 5 per cent.
It is understood that the Linklaters team advising China Three Gorges is being led by Lisbon managing partner António Soares.
Oppidum Capital, which is a major shareholder in EDP, is being advised by Allen & Overy.
