Lefebvre launches AI for key phases of criminal compliance
Lefebvre, a legal software and content company, has announced the integration of Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its flagship Compliance management platform, Centinela Penal. This innovation is set to transform how legal and compliance professionals—ranging from consultants and attorneys to corporate legal departments—manage criminal risk and regulatory obligations.
In an increasingly complex regulatory landscape, organizations must rely on robust tools to ensure legal certainty and effective risk mitigation. With this in mind, the legal software company led by José Ángel Sandín, has upgraded Centinela Penal with AI-driven functionalities that enhance risk assessment and control justification processes in criminal compliance.
At the core of this upgrade is a smart assistant powered by AI that supports users through key phases of the compliance process. Drawing on historical data and up-to-date legal sources (including Lefebvre’s Mementos and current legislation), the assistant provides automated suggestions for control measures, helps justify sensitive activities, and generates customized content tailored to the specific needs of each organization.
These AI capabilities are complemented by a newly redesigned interface, which simplifies navigation, removes distractions, and presents information more clearly—delivering a faster, more intuitive user experience. However, the most significant innovation lies at the very heart of the criminal compliance module.
This milestone comes shortly after the company became the first company in the legal sector to earn the ISO/IEC 42001:2023 certification, a globally recognized standard for responsible, secure, and legally compliant AI management systems. The company also holds certifications under the National Security Framework (ENS), ISO 27001, and ISO 9001, affirming its commitment to information security and quality management, and ensuring the confidentiality, integrity, and availability of its clients’ data.
