KWM appoints Gonzalo Fernández Contreras as counsel to its corporate team

King & Wood Mallesons has appointed Gonzalo Fernández Contreras as counsel to its Corporate/M&A team, managed by Roberto Pomares. With more than 13 years of experience, Gonzalo specialises in advising national and international companies on all types of corporate matters, including investments and divestments, restructuring processes, joint ventures and secondary transactions.

He has a notable track record in the energy and private equity sectors, where, in recent years, he has advised, among others, EDP Energías de Portugal, Galp, Greenvolt, Alantra, Portobello Capital, Headway Capital, Glendower Capital, GED Capital, Moira Industrial Partners, Capza, Artá Capital and Axis Participaciones Empresariales.

Gonzalo has been one of the lead lawyers in some of KWM’s most important transactions in recent years. These include advising Alantra Solar on the launch of its N-Sun platform; advising EDP Energías de Portugal on the acquisition of Viesgo from Macquarie; and advising French asset manager CAPZA on several of its transactions in Spain, including the acquisition of a majority stake in Grupo La Finca and the investment and subsequent divestment in the digital certificate company Ivnosys – currently part of the Signaturit group.
